Internet of Things

With the Internet of Things (IoT), physical objects become part of a digital network. Sensors, connectivity and data analytics allow machines, products and infrastructure to collect information, communicate and act autonomously. In production and logistics this turns factories, warehouses and supply chains into flexible, data driven systems that can react in real time and continuously improve.

The IoT FabLab is the joint living lab of BIBA and the LogDynamics Lab at the University of Bremen. We explore, develop and test IoT solutions for production and logistics in a realistic environment. Our mission is to bridge research and industrial practice, turning innovative ideas into working prototypes and scalable solutions for the factories and supply chains of tomorrow.

IoT Factory

In-house Embedded Electronics Manufacturing

We manufacture embedded electronic devices in our own production line. From PCB design and assembly to final testing, we have the equipment and expertise to produce small to medium series of IoT devices.

IoT Campus

Wide Area IoT Testbed

We have IoT infrastructure deployed across the university campus. This allows us to test and validate IoT solutions in a real-world environment covering a wide area. Together with our partners we combine technologies such as LoRaWAN, private 5G and Satellite Communication in integrated scenarios.

Infrastructure

In-situ Technology Tests

Our Mobile Ad-hoc Infrastructure allows us to rapidly deploy technologies to operational environments. This enables us to evaluate new technologies and solutions in challenging real-world scenarios and not just lab environments.
